60 Years Along The Road

Dated Banner.png

In mid-2023, I began working through the photographic archive of my Grandad, Barry Wheeler, with the intention of a collaborative project through which we would reflect on our shared passion for photography, separated by 60 years in time.

Whilst a photograph represents a fixed point in place and time - a set point of vision, and an objective frozen in motion, a successful photograph fulfils a complete contradiction of its physical form. A successful photograph succeeds in transporting the viewer through time, and transporting them in place.

My series seeks to explore the experience of that window of transportation, between different times and different places.

From the Spanish Pyrenees in the 1950's to the Mountains of Snowdonia in the early 2020's, from 1960's Germany to the modern day streets of Prague, and from the deserts of Peru of the early 1980's, to the shores of the Italian Neapolitan Riviera in the early 2010's.

60 Years Along The Road puts you between places and between ages, whilst celebrating friendship, shared passion, and photographs themselves in a series of multi-exposure artworks - each featuring an image from each of our bodies of work.

A project yet completed, with initial works featured in the Los Angeles Center of Photography's 2025 exhibition, Summertime Vintage. https://lacphoto.org/exhibition/summertime-vintage/

and The Mill Gallery's exhibition, Reframe: New Perspectives in Photography.

Chrono kai Chrona

Chrono kai Chrona explores the intersection of history and the present through a layered blend of painting and photography. Each piece begins with a subject drawn from the past and re-energises it with vibrant color and dynamic textures. The work seeks to break the stillness often associated with historical artifacts and sites.

The infusion of color is central to the series. It acts as a bridge between eras, pulling the subjects out of their static, monochrome stigma and into a more immediate, contemporary space.

Chrono kai Chrona invites us to see history not as something distant or frozen, but as something alive and relevant. The series asks us to consider how the past continues to shape our present, and how we can bring new life to old stories by viewing them through a modern, energetic lens.

Lost in the Wilds

Lost in the Wilds invites viewers to journey beyond the surface of the natural world and into the landscapes of introspection. Each artwork is a portal, blurring the boundaries between the seen and the unseen, the tangible and the spiritual.

This body of work is rooted in the thrill of adventure and the beauty of uncertainty. By embracing the unknown, we open ourselves to new perspectives and the possibility of transformation.

'Lost in the Wilds' is an invitation to wander, and to wonder, both physically and imaginatively - encouraging you to get lost, to dream, and to discover the profound connections that exist between the wildness of nature and the depths of the human spirit.
